Linguistics

Linguistics is the scientific study of language and its structure. It involves analyzing the sounds (phonetics and phonology), word forms (morphology), sentence structure (syntax), meaning (semantics), and the social aspects of language use (sociolinguistics). Linguists also study language change over time (historical linguistics) and how languages vary across different contexts and cultures. The field seeks to understand both the universal principles that govern all languages and the unique features of individual languages.
